Dr. AnnRené Joseph – Dancing and Vocal Health - Eight Movements for Health and Well-Being
Participants will learn the standing BrainDance (Gilbert, 2006) which demonstrates the 8 movements that all people were born to make and learn from birth through one year, and perfect from one year to two years old. Dr. Joseph has been teaching the BrainDance and variations of the BrainDance in her professional development sessions, conferences, and private teaching and settings for dance, music, theatre, and visual arts with all ages birth through senior citizens since learning of it and learning to do it in 2002 from the author and creator of the BrainDance, Anne Green Gilbert. The dance works well with mothers helping infants, toddlers, and pre-school; with entire families and siblings; and with small classroom settings of 1 – 5 students, and in settings of 5, 10, 15, 20 students/adults/seniors. Depending upon the participants, the dance can be taught on the tummy, in a chair, lying on one’s back, or standing. This dance is taught to all of Dr. Joseph’s vocal students as a warm-up to assist with their breathing and genuine physical and vocal well-being. Dr. Joseph incorporated the BrainDance into one of the treatment groups of her dissertation study in 2011 and published (Joseph, 2013/2014, 2019).
