As artists, how do we market our work to a rapidly-changing world? The inaugural cohort of The Art of Arts Entrepreneurship seminar answered this question in their final presentation projects.
Alicia pitched a coloring book composed of her many mandala illustrations as a way to foster intergenerational and inter-community connections between youths and the elderly. Malathi pitched a series of art workshops to teach creativity and leadership skills to working adults. And Brenda pitched the exclusive retail agency of the handpan instrument in Hong Kong, with herself as the brand ambassador and teacher.
The students leave this seminar with the skills to pitch their work to potential clients and investors, as well as a certificate which attests to 40 hours of instruction time in the learning, design and development of an arts business plan.
Stay tuned for the future rerun of The Art of Arts Entrepreneurship and other endeavors from CommonTime and FIIB!
After being introduced during an online Edtech pitch competition for female founders, CommonTime and LearnSlice are now collaborating! LearnSlice an online platform for learners and lecturers that facilitates self-preparation for exams with quizzes related to a study program. They use gamification to support learning, primarily through their quiz-generating software, and are trialing their platform in universities and schools. LearnSlice’s software fits in neatly with CommonTime to further support arts education in schools.

The Orchester der Kulturen recently concluded their concert with Musikwerk Stuttgart called ROOTS – NO ROOTS to an almost-sold-out Theaterhaus Stuttgart. Every person is shaped by their roots as well as their longing for freedom. Likewise, every type of music has its own roots but also crosses boundaries as a universal language that all cultures share. ROOTS – NO ROOTS explores these concepts in symphonic arrangements by artistic directors Adrian Werum and Arnd Pohlmann.
