Dear Arts Lovers,
The arts have the unique power to create unity and community. They transcend borders and allow us to communicate without – and beyond – words. When we create art together, it is a collaboration; we set aside differences in order to come together and inspire, help, and heal the audience. When we perform, we transport the audience away from their worries and give them beauty and joy. When we enjoy a performance as a member of the audience, we can forget our troubles and the problems of the world for a few hours. It’s an opportunity to reflect and gain a new perspective. Whether we are the artist or the audience, the arts allow us to step back and look upon the world with fresh eyes.
This month, try seeking out new opportunities to create or enjoy art with others!

This month, CommonTime is going to be facilitating a very special event!
On July 16th and 17th, over 140 students from the Chinese and Symphonic Band from TWGHs Li Ka Shing College of Hong Kong and the Albert Einstein Gymnasium Symphony Orchestra will come together for a multiple-day cultural exchange. This exchange event will include a joint performance at Beethoven-Saal Liederhalle on July 16th at 19:30. The students will be performing music by Liu Chi, He Zhan Hao & Chen Gang, Kachaturian, Vivaldi (arr. Werum), and more. The performance is conducted by Wong Chi, Chinese Orchestra TWGHs Li Ka Shing College; Yip Chua Kit, Conductor Symphonic Band TWGHs Li Ka Shing College; Stephan Bergdolt Orchestra and Choir Conductor Albert Einstein Gymnasium; Adrian Werum, Conductor and Artistic Director, Orchester der Kulturen.
What makes this exchange so unique? Each of the participating orchestras specializes in very different musical styles: the Chinese and Symphonic Band is a traditional Chinese orchestra, and the Albert Einstein Gymnasium Symphony Orchestra is a western orchestra. The location for this exchange, Stuttgart, is a perfect fit; over 50% of Stuttgart’s residents come from other countries and cultures, making the performance at Liederhalle a natural reflection of the inclusivity and rich diversity of this city and of Baden Württemberg.
This event is free and open to music educators, staff, students and their parents. If you would like to reserve seats for your school, email us at info@commontime.online with the total number of attendees.
General admission tickets (1€) are available at the link below.
