CommonTime Composition: December 2022
Dec 06, 2022 | The CommonTime Team

Happy December to our CommonTime Family,

We have made it to the end of another year. Let’s take a moment to look back on all of the successes, achievements, love, and light during this past year. At CommonTime, we have hosted events with artists and audience members from all around the world; helped to democratize Arts learning by providing inspiring Arts education experiences to students in Kenya and Uganda; given artists a platform to share their Art in 126 countries; and much more!

From our family to yours, I hope that this new year brings joy, good fortune, safety, and good health.

Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and Happy Holidays!

Michael Skillern

Co-Founder/Education + Outreach Coordinator, CommonTime Online

This holiday season, when you book a lesson, event, or live stream with a participating CommonTime artist, they will donate a lesson of equal or lesser value to the Global Schools Forum or the Voices of Children Charitable Foundation.

The Global Schools Forum, with over 55,000 participating schools, provides millions of children in the southern hemisphere with access to education. Voices of Children is a non-profit organization that is on the ground giving hope and voice to Ukraine’s children in this time of crisis by giving food, shelter, and mental and social health services.

Your support helps to give children access to arts education.

To book a lesson, check out the artist search page and look for artists with the red gift 🎁 icon!

If you would like to participate in the Art of Giving as an Artist, please contact us at info@commontime.online.

She received her Masters of Music in Flute Performance from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and she is the co-founder of the 2+1 Trio, an active woodwind trio. Sydney made her CommonTime debut at the last year’s International Artist Festival in a performance with the Queens Gate Trio. More recently, she hosted a professional development a workshop on teaching beginner flute as part of the CommonTime Woodwind Festival.

When it comes to teaching, Sydney aims for students to have fun and use music as a creative outlet to express themselves, all the while learning the ins and outs of music-making on the flute.
