Cindy Bulteel is currently the String Director at The American School of The Hague. Previously she was the Orchestra Director and Performing Arts Coordinator at the International School of Beijing for 21 years, teaching ES, MS and HS strings, as well as IB Music. She studied the double bass at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester and then played professionally in the UK, France and Spain with chamber, opera and symphony orchestras. She is currently the President of the AMIS (Association for Music in International Schools) Board of Trustees, an organization that promotes excellence in music education in international school throughout the world. She has presented workshops on technique and performance, cross-curricular projects and host-culture integration as well as festival mini-workshops on IB components. Over many years of participating in and hosting different events, Cindy is firmly convinced of the inspiration that taking part in an arts festivals, events and activities brings to students. Spending intense rehearsal time with students from different schools who share the same love of music can be life-changing experiences. Working hard on challenging music and learning together collaboratively to present a program of music is rewarding and leaves kids with life-long memories.
